Well this is exciting - we’ve just released a fresh episode of Pole the Other One! Podcast with political journalist, author and pole peach Marie Le Conte!
You might recognise Marie from her coverage of Westminster and U.S. politics, her three books or generally brilliant social media presence. Somehow she’s also squeezed in the time to become a pole dancer, and we have a properly joyful chat about why we’re so evangelical about learning to hang off a stick.
This episode also goes more in depth about Marie’s experience of living with ADHD. We talk about the “superpower or disability?” takes on neurodivergence, and how ADHD mixes with your sense of identity, work and relationships. It was such a treat to have her on the podcast!
Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or our podcast home page. I started this podcast because I noticed how much pole dancing had improved my own mental health and I wanted to talk to other sexy stick enthusiasts about the amazing transformative power of pole dancing in their lives. There’s a backlog of episodes covering everything from gender identity, invisible disabilities, sex worker activism and loads more if you want to explore.
WOKEFLAKE is on YouTube!
In other news: thanks so much everyone who came to me and Sam Nicoresti’s launch party on Sunday and raised just over £100 for Trans Kids Deserve Better.
WOKEFLAKE is now online and I’d love you to watch it! Of course I’m biased because it feels like we’ve worked on this show now since the Bush administration and I love my friend Sam from the bottom of my heart, but I think this show is a unique and important clapback to the horrorshow of UK transphobia.
Watch it for a comic at the top of her game and a completely original, very funny and surrealist snapshot of what the trans community are currently up against.
